LibriVox · Audiobook · 4 episodes

Set in Edwardian England, Waste is a story of politics, religion and adulterous scandal. First published in 1906-7, the play was refused by the Lord Chamberlain and could therefore only be staged privately. Granville-Barker revised his play many times until it was publicly staged in 1936. The playwright included a note to H. M. Harwood in his revised edition (first published April, 1927) stating, in part: “I doubt if one scrap of the old dialogue survives; the story and the characters are here, that is all.” This Librivox recording uses the original (1906-7) script. - Summary by Brian Fullen Cast (in order of appearance): Stage Directions: Brian Fullen Lady Davenport: Winnifred Assmann Mr. Walter Kent: Alan Mapstone Mrs. Julia Farrant: Sonali Ekka Miss Frances Trebell: Aleacia Messiah Mrs. Amy O'Connell: Tegan Johnson Miss Lucy Davenport: ShrimpPhish Mr. George Farrant: Greg Giordano Mr. Russell Blackborough: ToddHW Mr. Henry Trebell: Cavaet The Footman: tombooker Simpson, Henry Trebell’s maid: Jessie Percival Dr. Gilbert Wedgecroft: Anthony Joseph Lord Charles Cantelupe: Larry Wilson Lord Cyril Horsham: Beeswaxcandle Edmunds, Lord Horsham’s manservant: ARodrigo Mr. Justin O’Connell: Brian Fullen Audio edited by Brian Fullen
