Sea Drift from Leaves of Grass
Sea Drift is a set of 11 poems which make up part of Walt Whitman's larger collection Leaves of Grass. The poems were inspired by Whitman's memories of childhood visits to the sea shores of Paumanok, an old native American name for Long Island, and of later sea voyages. (Summary by Alan Mapstone)
